About Dr. Puente:
Dr. Puente completed his premedical training at the University of Florida, where he obtained a BS degree in Zoology in May of 1989. Then he graduated as a podiatrist in 1997 from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine. His residency training took place at Plantation General Hospital (PGH) and Kendall Medical Center, where he completed 2 years of a PPMR (Primary Podiatric Medical Residency). Dr. Puente excelled as a podiatric resident at both institutions and received an Excellence in Podiatry Clinic Award at PGH.
Over the last 20 years Dr. Puente has served as Staff podiatrist at multiple long-term-care facilities in Sarasota, Charlotte and Lee Counties. He is also part of the medical staff at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, Florida. While his areas of expertise are geriatric and diabetic foot care, Dr. Puente enjoys all aspects of podiatric medicine, particularly sports medicine and podo-pediatrics. He is board eligible and is currently working to attain certification in both Lower Extremity Geriatric Medicine and Primary Podiatric Medicine with the American Board of Multiple Specialties in Podiatry (ABMSP).
